Now with a strong population growth, Lewisville was once one of the oldest and derelict cities in Texas. Back in the 1840s, travelling across the city was difficult, but now thanks to the growing economy and evolution of transportation, it’s possible to travel about effortlessly.
And there are plenty of reasons why you should visit Lewisville. From libraries and museums, to entertainment scenes, there’s plenty to do here and try new things along the way.
Here are our best things to do in Lewisville:
1. Cobra Brewing Company
The Cobra Brewing Company is a gem in the centre of the city and is the epitome of a microbrewery. There’s over a dozen types of beer on tap, making it perfect for even the most acquired pallet.
If you can visit on Saturdays – even better, because they have a local food truck to help soak up the copious glasses of brews you’ve consumed (and trust us, you’ll want to!).
Their homemade drinks include: Best Mistake, Donut Dunker, Golden Girl and more; all of which offer a unique flavour with tropical, fresh notes.
If you’re worried it’s on the pricey side, fear not, as for just $10, you can get three beers and a glass souvenir of your choice. Perfect!
2. Witherspoon Distillery
There’s always a special event happening at the Witherspoon Distillery, but you don’t only need a celebratory date to have a great time here.
The Distillery produces premium handcrafted spirits for those who enjoy fresh ingredients made on its grounds. Aged and bottled perfectly before finally being distilled, everyone who comes here loves it.
Clandestinely placed, many miss out on this wonder which is a shame as there are ample opportunities to have a great night without the kids. From an informative tour with bartenders making distinctive tastes, to outside seating areas for a quiet moment to yourself, it’s definitely not one to be missed.
3. Medical Center of Lewisville Grand Theater
If you’re hoping for quality performances ranging from music, to dance, to theatre, then this is the place for you.
To give you a taste of their shows, in July 2016, there’s an ‘Up Come And Personal’ exhibit whereby it features close-up images of everyday items. Such a great interpretation of modern life!
There’s also a showcase of Les Misérables and tickets for this are $20 for adults. Not bad for a masterpiece.
4. One Hour To Escape
Source: 1hour2escape
Spread all around the world in major cities are ‘escape rooms’, where people have to solve clues and answer questions in order to find the exit. Lewisville has jumped on this trend and offers adults and children an exciting and interactive day out.
Suitable for date nights, parties and celebrations, or just something to do on a rainy day, there are different types of rooms to accommodate your tastes.
For example, there’s the ‘Fallout Shelter’ where you are thrown into a scenario as being chosen by the government and your role is to shelter people. The objective is to keep your group ‘alive’ and guide them to shelter. It’s fun and different!
5. Cosmic Jump
An indoor trampoline park for all ages and abilities. If you’re looking for a workout class or just a few hours of fun, this should be on your bucket list.
They aren’t your ordinary trampolines here, as you can learn tricks in a foam pit, bounce on a jump zone and try stunts. Of course, there will be patrons to keep you safe and help you master any advanced manoeuvers, but there are also games including the ‘slam dunk trampoline basketball’ to keep you in high spirits too.
6. Gatsplat
Gatsplat is indoor paintball for kids… and adults who want to feel like a kid. Occupying 26,000 square feet and two playing fields, this is an entertaining day out waiting to happen.
Explore your inner-child and take along some friends with you, because the more the merrier. In fact, if you have children, bring them along for a birthday celebration and a day they’ll never forget.
Luckily the hits aren’t painful and there are plenty of rubbers bags dotted around to protect you. Just remember to wear old clothes and be prepared to get splatted.
7. Hawaiian Falls
If there’s only one place we could recommend to you in Lewisville, it’s the Hawaiian Falls. It’s a jewel of wave pools, an interactive water playground, slides and river… all suitable for the entire family.
There’s a reason it’s popular amongst tourists and residents with its acres of fun packed with all sorts of water activities.
Ranging from large slides to a ‘lazy river’ (a more relaxing break from the madness), it’s an apt day out for younger and older kids. Plus, there’s plenty of food available to keep your energy levels up.
When the weather gets too hot or you can’t find anything to do, head here.
8. Interskate
Interskate is an indoor roller skating rink for private parties or a fun day out with the family, or controversially, to make new friends.
There are three deluxe private rooms for parties, a featured skating floor, rental skates and sound system with 16,000 watts of power. But aside from fun and games, they take safety very seriously and even have carpeted walls to protect guests from hurting themselves (specifically those who are new to the activity).
For a good old fashioned outing with fun disco lights, Wi-Fi, private parties, brightly coloured fixtures and traditional food including popcorn, nachos, pretzels and more, don’t wait around, book here.
9. Lewisville Lake Park
A recreational park with a golf course, lake, swimming and boating facilities and picnic and seating areas.
When on holiday/travelling you can get stuck in a rut with no exercise, but in Lewisville’s lake park, you can hike or bike across 350 acres. Covered with beautiful pine trees and plenty of open space to roam around or chill, it’s a great visit for everyone.
For golf enthusiasts, there’s an 18-hole course to keep you out of mischief… and it’s free to use if you take your own balls, otherwise it’s $12. The park is in walking distance of a beach and although it isn’t identical to one in the Mediterranean, it’s clean and sandy.
10. Old Town Aquatic Park
Another tranquil park is the Old Town Aquatic. This one is slightly more active than the previous, with two leisure pools plus slides and loops, as well as a small river, playground and much more.
For the warmer season, it’s a great outing. The pool is a favourite amongst locals because it’s like being in an exotic country and is safe for even small children. Plus, there are plenty of features to keep parents fit whilst the youngsters are playing in the pool.
11. Painting With A Twist
Once you’ve relaxed the mind and body, it’s time to restore some brain cells with Painting With A Twist. If you’ve ever fancied a go at painting but had no clue where to start, this is an inventive class to pick up on your artistic skills.
But it comes with a twist. Unlike other constituencies, they encourage you to bring food and snacks along because it’s art, but less serious.
With fun and experienced instructors, you’ll have a great time whilst crafting something you never thought you could achieve.
12. The Antique Gallery
Here you can discover collectibles and fill your home with inventive accessories and antique furniture.
You can find furniture from any period to add a twist to your living room. Though, if you have to catch a flight back home, you can still pick up some unique trappings. That way you’ll have a story to tell about your new prized possession, rather than saying it was bought from down the road.
13. BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse
Everyone likes a cosy restaurant with a variety of tasty food, and that’s exactly what you have to look forward to here.
Whether you’re looking for an appetiser or a full meal of pasta, a burger, salad, or flatbread, there’s something to wet your pallet here.
The restaurant is a new build and only came onto the scene at the end of June 2016, so there’s a buzz and excitement to its aura. On your drive to it, it’s a nice surprise in an abundance of restaurants which haven’t been renovated in a long time.
14. Main Event Entertainment
I’d rank this entertainment venue a number one because of its variety and fun factor. We all need time off from our busy schedules to relax and indulge in some pleasure, and that’s what the Main Event Entertainment encourages.
For a rainy day or when you have little plans, opt for this spot to bowl, play trivia, golf and eat until your stomach bursts. There are plenty of activities to accommodate all interests and it’s great value too.
15. Razzoo’s
Let’s face it, most of us are happiest when eating. Razzoo’s eatery promises a great place to eat with a jokey persona. They incorporate food and live shows to provide you with a spectacle, and the menu is extensive too.
Look away now if you don’t like weird names for foods, because they have courses called ‘Rat Toes’, ‘Grilled Gator Tail’ and more. Some actually are what they their title says although some are just a witty play on words. (We’ll let you be the judge of that).
Awake your taste buds and energise your senses with a special meal out here.
