An unincorporated U.S. territory, Puerto Rico is one of the most exquisite islands among the Caribbean and is characterized by its diverse landscape that comprises lofty mountains, gushing waterfalls, plush tropical rainforest, and of course, the stunning Caribbean Sea. However, its landscape is not the only distinct feature of Puerto Rico. In fact, the culture in this paradisiacal island is a great mixture of Spanish, African, U.S., and Taíno ethnicity.

With a bustling capital city and a close proximity to mainland United States, Puerto Rico has been a prominent tourism hotspot for decades. While San Juan is definitely at the core of all tourist activities, Puerto Rico also comprises several smaller islands that are worth exploring.

Let us explore the island jewel in detail so you can plan where to stay in Puerto Rico during your visit.
